Maneesha and Jack

I found this picture in a news site on the Internet, I can't remember the story or context, but I was so struck by the image that I saved it. Its a very striking image which seems to me to speak volumes.

I don't like to use things from the Internet without attribution so I searched for this when constructing this page. All I had to go on was the image name. This led me to the author and owner of this image. Research on this site reveals that this is her favourite picture, is called "Maneesha and Jack" and is a two pound premature baby in the very large hands of a man.

I don't think I should say anything about this image. What this image says to you, if anything, is either profoundly clear to you or not.

If it is clear then you either agree with me or you do not.

If you agree then there is no need to say more.

If you don't agree then there is probably no point in saying more.

Just because one recognises a spectrum of greys around an issue doesn't mean one can't tell the black end from the white end.

Maturity should allow you to both distinguish the black from the white while agreeing that deciding which shade of grey is where black becomes white is a difficult matter of opinion about which reasonable people can disagree.

To argue that there is no grey or worse that black equals white in order to avoid arguing about the grey is unfortunately the juvenile level of public discourse now prevailing. Which is why I pessimistically say I don't think I should say anything and discussion is pointless.
